Path to NHL will continue with Buffalo visit

Buffalo Business First Staff Report

The National Hockey League's annual showcase of top draft prospects will be held in Buffalo for another three years.

The annual NHL Scouting Combine has been hosted by the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center and LECOM Harborcenter since 2015. The extended pact announced Monday keeps the event in Buffalo through 2022.

The purpose is to bring together representatives from every NHL team to meet with top draft-eligible prospects from North America and Europe. The event, held in late May and early June, consists of player interviews, medical assessments and a series of physical fitness tests.

"The Buffalo Sabres are gracious hosts and The KeyBank Center, LECOM Harborcenter and the City of Buffalo provide the ideal location and venue requirements for all our needs," said Dan Marr, director NHL Central Scouting.

This year's scouting combine is slated for June 1-6.
