The Theater District -- the entire 600 Block of Main Street!

A fabulous free event on the 600 Block of Main Street, featuring iconic Buffalo bands and terrific entertainment in every venue in the beautiful Theater District- something for everyone!

An outdoor stage in front of Studio Arena at the Tupper end of the Theatre District will showcase great Buffalo bands and muscians. All of Buffalo - from near and far -- is invited!

Music, food, entertainment, old friends, great times…the Buffalo Homecoming Block Party is the event of the season!

Greg Klyma - He calls himself the "rustbelt vagabond." This nationally-known Buffalo boy is flying home from Boston to engage and entertain us with his folksy, Buffalo songs in his beloved hometown.

The Great Train Robbery -- the much-loved Buffalo ska group, recently reunited to the delight of local music lovers! The best band on the scene in 1985 is rocking Buffalo again neraly 25 years later...

Crittenden --a jazz, rock and soul tour de force. These boys do more than entertain, though. Eric Crittendon is reaching into the community to work with area at risk
youth using Image performance to promote a positive image of self and community through edutainment. An amazingly accomplished and engaged group, doing well by doing good.

 

At Alleyway Theatre

Get the evening off to a great early start at 7:00 p.m. with Theatre Plus's world premier of Lament for Joe, by Lee Allan Hartlieb, on the Alleyway Theatre Main Stage. The play is about a married couple torn apart by evil forces beyond their control.

Mr. Hartlieb was born in Dunkirk and is an artist with People Inc.'s fine arts program The Arts Experience. He has spastic quadriplegia due to a traumatic brain injury as a child, but has not allowed his physical limitations to impede his creative abilities.

At the Market Arcade Theatres

Go on a nostalgic adventure to the outrageous and fantastic operatic world of the Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Market Arcade Theatres!

The Time Warp Dance Event starts at 10:00 p.m., before the movie begins at Midnight. Instructors dressed as Rocky Horror Picture Show characters will teach the Time Warp Dance, transforming you and your friends into the chorus of Transylvanians, with Rocky, Dr. Frank-N-Furter, Brad, Janet, Magenta, and all the rest of the Rocky happy camper characters performing live character animation.

The “Rocky Horror Accessories Packet” (rice, toast, paper towel, newspaper, rubber glove, playing cards, party whistle and glow stick) will be available for purchase ($1.25) at the Arts Council and at the Theatre (no water will not be allowed).

At CEPA Gallery

CEPA and Just Buffalo will host special Buffalo Homecoming Wine and Cheese Reception to view the Writing with Light exhibition, featuring work by students from three Buffalo Public Schools: Native American Magnet, Frederick Law Olmsted and Highgate Heights.

Writing with Light enables students to engage in challenging, thought-provoking activities that integrate core curricular subjects with the literary and photographic arts. These multidisciplinary initiatives have been successful in connecting young people with their families, neighborhoods, and cultural heritage, encouraging self-exploration and creative self-expression. 

Also on view will be two MFA Thesis Exhibitions by UB graduate students: Scripted Image: (Re) Visions of Authority by Kevin Charles Kline (Underground Gallery), and Enthusiast: Calls and Orders by Joel Brenden (Market Arcade Atrium). 

As always, admission to CEPA is free and open to the public.  .
